This is one of my new favorite photos.
When I look at it, I get a little veclempt. I find it hard to believe that all these people lived inside me for 9 months before joining the world, that they all came from within me – my being. It’s a little out of focus, and grainy, and I’m gesturing to my daughter to grab the baby making a run for freedom to the left- but I love it nonetheless. Surprisingly enough- I have very few photos of myself with all my children. That tends to happen when you are the sole photographer. Toss in two older kids with busy lives of their own, and the moments where we can all enjoy each others company at the same time are becoming further and further apart. So much so, that even the baby get’s it. When the kids were all home one day this week, he ran into the living room clapping and babbling pure, unadulterated happiness. He stopped and looked at each one of us pointedly. His kids were home, and his family was once again complete.
And isn’t that what everything is all about?

“Spewing about spills ”

“Pipeline leaks are an inherent risk of operations.” No, not some environmental group’s propaganda, but rather a statement from Enbridge’s 2008 Annual Report (available online).
Although I could find no self-reporting by mega pipeline company Enbridge of leaks/spills in 2008, I did find the self-reported spills for two previous years: 2007 – 67 “reportable” spills (5663 barrels); 2006 – 65 “reportable” spills (13,777 barrels).
Hi Astro, It’s all good, I have about 5 emails concerning Enbridge to get on sometime soon, but it is taking longer to settle in to the new house ( and Liberal neighbourhood) than I anticipated.
I always welcome items like this, so please, continue whenever and where-ever you like !
Laila,
Sounds as if you’re engaging in a lot of schmoozing in your new neighbourhood.
Does this indicate that you might be persuaded to become a BC Liberal candidate in the next provincial election?
That’s exactly what its about.
Me? Liberal Candidate?
MARY! What cold remedy have you taken to make you say such things??
We just moved about a year ago and I’m still trying to figure outwhere things are and develop routines and we don’t have kids living with us to contend with. all the best.
