Bits and Bites – Wednesday July 16th

Mmmm, nothing like a really good cup of joe in the morning to make your day A-OK… and so, here we are back at the weekly edition of Bits and Bites- the day I comment on topicsfrom all over the web.

Youth crime is rampant in BC, particularly here in the lower mainland where finding kids with some sense is akin to finding a 5 carat diamond in your backyard. What would you do if you walked outside to find some kids trashing your truck ? Take this story from my local paper, where a Surrey man may be facing charges because he pepper sprayed a group of kids that he had followed home after witnessing them vandalizing his truck. Pulling up to the home where the miscreants stopped, he pulled out his bear spray for protection. The three kids who actually committed the crime got out of their vehicle and were joined by several others from inside the home, and then started walking towards the fellow. Having been beaten once before by a group of youths, he wasn’t taking any chances and let the bear spray fly – and now police are looking to him as the aggressor in the situation. No charges have been laid on any of the kids for vandalizing the vehicle yet. Read the full story here:

Some may ask, why didn’t he just call the police. Why didn’t he stay in his car? I’m only guessing, but considering the response time I’ve seen in Surrey for “lesser” crimes, I’m thinking that he did what he thought he had to do. There simply are not enough RCMP in Surrey to handle the workload of such a burgeoning population.  It leads me to the topic of street justice – don’t even get me started on why kids are doing this shit, talk to the parents about their parenting. What does one do when RCMP cant respond fast enough, or even at all?  I can tell you this much, if some kid – or anyone- decides to trash our car outside, he better be a track star, because hes going down on his face until the cops do show up.Sometimes you do what you have to do. Enough said.

Well, judgement is everything, and it all come down to timing, but nothing could be worse timing forSteven Paige, frontman for The Barenaked Ladies, who just released their first childrens CD. Paige has been charged in the US for drug possession relating to an incident with some- I’m guessing clothed ladies- in an apartment in New York . Cocaine is the key word here, and wow, this doesn’t bode well for being a childrens musical icon.

Innocent until proven guilty, but Gee Steve, what were you thinking, sitting at a table covered in blow, right by an open window ? Should have stuck to the bathroom…

Very interesting reactions to my commentary on Gordon Campbells Carbon Tax ads, or should I say, lack thereof. Does this mean we are all in agreement now? I’ve received several emails thanking me for writing “the truth”, and yet people seem very hesitant to talk about the subject openly, and it seems the entire global climate change theory has created confusion among people. The massive amount of disinformation out there- on both sides- doesn’t help matters.  Let me take you on a trip down memory lane, back to 2006 and the time when Kyoto targets actually meant something, and help those of you who are a little confused about this tax and what its all about .

Whatever the supposed motive, Campbells carbon tax is a mere money grab, and fails to target the big business polluters who truly need to be brought into line.

In a related story, you can add kidney stones to the list of evils ‘global warming’ will unleash upon us.

Well, if kidney stones are on that list of things we will be subjected to when the earth overheats, you may as well add in fatwhitemanitis, the heat related condition whereby fat white men take off their wife-beaters and rejoice in their ample manhood,causing the eyes of unsuspecting women to scrunch shut in agony.

 Yet another heat related illness we will likely see more of, is one that creates a false sense of thin and sexy in an otherwise grossly overweight women, known as muffintopidia. Incidents of this tragic condition are already popping up, and have been seen at places like Cultis Lake, and Splashdown Park, where the hapless victims can be seen wearing overexposed bathing suits befitting only the most anorexic model, or crop tops and way too tight low rider jeans- tummy flesh jiggling all over the place. The only cure after being exposed to either of these conditions is a good stiff drink to make you forget. Global warming and kidney stones? What next ?
