That’s right.
Gordon Campbell and his Liberal party members have a helluva lot of explaining to do. I’m talking about those two page ads in every paper. The glossy, dramatic television spots on various local channels. You know the ones…..
” The Okanagan Firestorms of 2003, ( dramatic clip of firestorm ), flooding in Prince George” ( the winter floods in PG) , and so on and so forth…. the gist of the ads is to blatantly push this wonderful carbon tax we have, and how BC is going to be the most proactive at addressing climate changes through reduced emissions. Like somehow all the emissions we have produced globally contributed to some sort of climate change that fostered the above mentioned natural disasters.
Excuse my language, but what a load of shit!!! How stupid does Gordon Campbells PR entourage think we all are? Pretty damn stupid, I’m guessing.
Let me refresh your memories and educate you on why these ads are so ridiculous.
Here is a link to the provincial report on the Okanagan Firestorm of 2003. Take a moment to read it.
http://www.2003firestorm.gov.bc.ca/firestormreport/forman.htm
Hmmm. No where in this report on the fire does it mention climate change or global warming as a reason for the severity of the fire that was started with a lightening strike- not an uncommon occurrence in the interior. What DID make this firestorm so severe? The lack of appropriate forest management and human encroachment/ interference. Fires are a natural part of a forest life, and are crucial to removing the scrubby undergrowth of the forest that can act as fuel for a fire. For years, the forest ministry had not allowed any controlled burns to be done AND successfully suppressed any smaller fires that may have started. These two factors successfully created an overgrowth of scrub on the forest floor, and created a situation ripe for a the events of 2003.
In effect, the governments own policies created the perfect situation for this massive ,destructive fire. Woulda ,Coulda, Shoulda- but didn’t. Not global warming, not climate change, no, in fact we did it to ourselves.
Now, lets talk about the Prince George flood this past winter. For one thing, as someone who grew up there, let me tell you that ice jams happen every year. They don’t often get as bad as this one, but this too was not a situation that in any way can be attributed to global worming, or any other climate change. In fact, Moron Campbell, oops, sorry, Gordon Campbell even said in a clip I saw on the news during his little sympathy trip to the interior, that it must be because of the beetle killed trees that cannot suck up any extra water because they were dead. Does he even know how many people laughed in PG over that one? Nope, this was not due to beetle kill trees either, it was once again mismanagement through government and municipal policies.
Although not widely talked about- God knows politicians dont like to talk about their f***-ups – there has been a battle going on between environmentalists trying to save fish habitat, and those who are in charge of the river.Back in the day, it used to be that when the silt and gravel in the river that was brought downstream built up so much that the depth of the river dropped, they would dredge the river. Its done down here in the Fraser all the time. However, over the years, protecting potential fish spawning habitat suddenly became more important than keeping the silt and gravel under control ,and the dredging stopped. What happened? Of course, the buildup became so great that this year the ice jam became impassable. And this is all without factoring the Alcan contribution to it, which is yet another government screw-up….( Lets talk to the Liberals about Alcan too) …… Think they might go back to dredging now? Policy, politics and mismanagement, pure and simple .
And so, you can see why I have to laugh at these smarmy ads that push this instance in our faces as proof we need this tax. These” disasters” weren’t a result of global warming, or global cooling, or any kind of climate change at all. They were government mismanagement’s, pure and simple. Costly ones, at that.
I would be remiss to talk about how much these ads are costing us all as taxpayers. TV spots aren’t cheap, and these ads are running several times an hour during prime time. Two page ads in provincial dailies? Astronomical. Yes, this Carbon tax is saving us so much, I can just add it all up.
Gordon, If this gets back to you, I would like to know something. Why the lies? Are you hoping that enough time has passed that no one will remember the real details behind those two disasters? Are you so desperate to have people embrace this tax that you must resort to tactics that equate to fear mongering?
Quit wasting our money on your personal agendas. Carbon Tax? This whole spectacle is a farce,Premier, a sham of the greatest proportions, and I believe it will come to an end - not unlike your time as our fair leader.

expensive yes.
I think I will stay with Penn and Teller on recycling and global warming.
come on Get, what do Penn and Teller have that I dont have… ? ; )
All three of us agree with you.
Lol… I know GR, I know.. The Bullshit series was freaking hilarious, wasn’t it?
Interesting reaction here on the homefront to this article- glad to jog the memories of those who’ve forgotten, although Liberal supporters are not liking me so much…darn it!!
I guess my birthday party list is getting smaller and smaller…
Think of all the Christmas cards you won’t have to reply to. Could be a mini boom for recycling…
Well, Get, that would mean I would have to get some cards first….. I stopped sending Christmas cards a few years ago to everyone but immediate family, because it is so wasteful. They just get thrown out after the tree comes down. I would rather share a nice drink and some face to face time with those i love and care for.
But…
does that mean it is finally kosher to re-gift ?? In the spirit of reducing waste, of course.
In a related coincidence, a large, national PR firm known to be the spin doctors certain political parties, was a very frequent vistor on my site yesterday, and read every post concerning the Liberals and Gordon Campbell. New fans, I’m guessing….. ; ) Maybe they can enlighten us all to the final cost of this latest carbon tax brainwash…
Greetings Laila,
I happened onto your site while surfing random blogs, and WOW!! I am truly impressed to see that beauty, intelligence , and scathing wit can be found in one woman. I thought immediately I should buy a plane ticket and try to woo this woman who captured my mind and curiosity so completely, and then I found the post about your new baby and husband.
: 0 : (
It just had to be too good to be true. Of course you would be snapped up!
Congratulations on your new baby, and tell your husband he is a lucky man and should keep very good care of you. There are many men just waiting for a woman like yourself to fall in love with, to tak with, to verbally joust and challenge each others minds, and to discover the worlds mysteries with.
All the best, andf forever your fan,
Ralph
Postscript : I do hope that you don’t take any offence at my words. They are written with the truest sentiment.
Gee ** blush**
I leave the blog and take a day off in the sun and look what happens while I’m gone!
Thanks for the compliments Ralph, and yes, I am happily married, with not one, but 4 kids.
That should calm your hormones a bit, hmmm?
Seriously though, I don’t think I’m a rare breed. Intelligent women are everywhere, you just have to look in the right places. I’m glad to have you as a fan, and don’t worry, no offence taken. My husband does take very, very good care of me… ; )
Welcome to the blog!
Laila
The carbon tax is a joke.
I majored in Environmental Economics and engery consultanting at Ohis State University, the answers on the test were that public transportantion and a hemp based economy would go a long way to reducing the carbon footprint of mankind.
There is plenty of evidence that there is global warming on the other planets in our solar system, so there is plenty of evidence that man is not totally responsible for global warming.
The point is that global warming like drug prohibition is but another example that the government has a scientific dictatorship and allows no dissent.
Cutting it up into baby bites for you, you talk constantly about the rule of law, in your own way you define it and talk about free speech and free choice.
When you advocate more enforcement without the preservation of the public debate, you must understand, that the rule of law without a public debate is a police state.
There is no debate in government, especially in Abbotsford, it makes no difference if you are talking about drug prohibition or global warming.
There is an agenda for a one world gvernment and that agenda will not take no for an answer.
I do not believe I will ever see the day that Marijuana is legal, but that is not the point. Marijuana is a representative issue of what is wrong with our governments all over the world.
legalizing marijuana is about undermining the foreign policy of the United States. The problems in the world flow from the American’s foreign policy.
I want you to understand, I am not about preserving my right to free speech, that is an important right, but it is work to talk to you and that is more work for free. My time and energy is my inventory, I do not give it away for free.
What I am trying to say to people is that their freedom of expression is slipping away. Freedom of expression is your right as a citizen to recieve all the information to make an informed decision.
That is what I am sueing Professor Plecas and the City of Abbotsford for.
Violating my freedom of expression. Withholding information and refusing to recieve counter information to their agenda officially.
Not to deviate too much, but have you ever noticed that gordon campbell
seems like an american puppet? Promoting an american agenda?
Reminds me of Harper, another american lapdog.
Well Tim, I finally agree with something you have said :
“Not to deviate too much, but have you ever noticed that gordon campbell
seems like an american puppet? Promoting an american agenda?
Reminds me of Harper, another american lapdog.”
Good call.
As I mentioned on Fred Factor, free speech doesn’t mean I have to indulge your desire to express your views, or give you space to comment. If I chose to,I could block your IP address so that your comments are automatically deleted upon submission, however I choose not to because you make me laugh. Does that mean you can sue me for censoring your comments? Try it .
No, because your right to free speech does not over-rule my right to do what I wish on my own site, and that includes barring nuts if and when I choose to.
If I wanted to post naked pictures of myself here, I could.
If I believed that the world was flat and we could fall off if we got too close to the edge, this is where I could vent and rant.
But, my right to free speech and expression does not mean I can make any city hall listen to me, nor does it give me the right to harass others- which, by the way, is something you might want to consider.
I know of cases where internet trolls have gone too far and crossed the line into cyber stalking and harassment in the desire to try and make their points. Dont allow this to become your future Tim, because if you do, you will lose what respect others do have for you – as someone who is staunch in their beliefs and opinions – regardless of the fact I don’t agree with or share your views.
Laila, I understand I am messing with a woman who believes the world is flat.
I defend your right to free speech to.
Banning me from your site, will not solve the probelm of bad government, one of your favorite complaints.
I am keeping my eye on you because you want to talk about more enforcement when that is the wrong approach.
Listen, we both know how the internet works, I do not have to be on your site to comment and pull your name.
Banning people who think you are blond does not make you right.
Those commercials are a joke, as is the Provincial Climate Action Plan. In the case of the latter, this farce of a document actually promotes driving (promotes driving – I mean my God is that some kind of joke?!?) all the while Kevin Falcon promotes highway widening in the lower mainland.
All the while they ignore and refuse to fund passenger service on the perfectly viable rail lines running throughout the province. The Interurban Line, the E & N Line – setting up our society around electric trains for transportation would go a helluva longer way towards reducing pollution in the province. That should be our goal, reducing pollution. If carbon emissions are reduced also, then great, but let’s get real here.
Those ads and the Climate Action Plan are the most unreal lies I have ever seen from this government.
You hit the nail on the head Steve, and welcome!
It seems the sleeping public are waking up. More of my readers than ever are writing to share their views with me, and what Campbell hasnt taken into account is the average Joe throughout BC.
I’m talking about men who are working hard to make a buck, working overtime just to make ends meet and pay the mortgage, and have a little extra to pay for the kids sports. Families where both parents work just to stay afloat, single moms who are paying daycare costs and working and trying to keep enough gas in the car to get to and from work. These are the people who are hurting now, not those in Point Grey, or West Vancouver, or any other high income bracket neighbourhood.
This is the problem that results from having an ego larger than life itself. There is only so much weight one can bear upon ones back before it breaks. Unfortunately, this latest tax on top of already skyrocketing fuel costs, has pushed far too many people to the breaking point.
Laila
I say all the time that we are economic slaves.
I also say that monetary inflation proceedes price inflation.
Today the government created another 750 million out of thin air and added it to the money supply. Local papper article.
That is a tax that was not voted on. That is future price inflation.
If you do not like the rising prices remember.
It is not bread and gas going up, it is your dollar going down. The world is awash in dollars and the Bank of Canada just printed another 750 million this week with no citzen approval.
The problem is your dollars are going down, prices are not going up.
The government has also printed major amounts of money to pay for the war.
You can expect the dollars to keep going down and to pick up steam on the 18th of August.
On that day the central banks meet and there is no good choices.
To raise the interest rates is to slow the economy.
To lower the interest rates is to drive down the currency.
To leave them the same, is to continue moving sideways.
The real situation is a fundamental lowering of the standard of living.
If a canadian and a China man both produced widgets of the same quality,
the only difference should be the transportation cost.
Canadians will have to accept a lower standard of living to be competitive.
You can expect massives amounts of inflation in the near future, not just because the government printed the money to make it happen, but this recession or depression is to be a transformation of the economy from a local one to an international one. We will have no jobs.
The standard of wages in the future, is what does a china man make?
You should also remember the raw facts, if it cost three dolars a day to live and eat, and you only make one dollar a day, you must die from starvation.
When prices go up, it will be the people who make four dollars a day who must die.
Today there is 15,000 people dieing from starvation daily.
This figure will only increase expodentially in the next 90 days.
These things are already predetermined by the money and food supply flows.
if campbell’s pollution tax(carbon tax changed due to unpopularity my guess) works then the man is a genuis and shoud be hailed as one, his next tax shoud be a cancer tax and then a homelessness tax and etc etc, but alas out there in the real world bc’s biggest polluters are still getting away with polluting the province. while just a smidgen of the 34% of the provinces polluters like you and me and my neighbor hank have to pay for our transgressions. campbell is a creepy scary manipulative man. and if a drunk driving conviction cant keep him out of politics i dont think anything will. welfare for the rich is alive and well in beautiful bc
Stagflation I believe is the correct term for whats about to happen here in BC because of the recession and the tax multiplying itself while record numbers lose their job. I was thinking is this the way to get the 34% who are affected by the carbon taxes to quit living as carbon tax drives up transportation costs as fuel consumption drops do to recession and highest job loses in the province as BC economy is a national joke on Rick Merceir’s Show as cheap shop, I agree but its a province thats into starve a child get a tax break as BC goes for the record 6th year as ensuring BC little ones have the worst treatment of the nation and getting harsher.
How about Canadians stay out of the widget business and not try to compete with China or India or anyone who mass produces junk to sell to the global world as its not even working for the Chinese right now as many go unemployed. How about sticking with a highly educated and diverse work force with science and innovation forefront on our agenda. Go with what we got and what Canada doesn’t have is a Billion Chinese on her soil so why go there let China stay with the cheap stuff as China’s real value is its numbers as its has no problem snuffing out life.
You know what would have been smart as auto makers fight to stay alive Canadians needed to be put into the seats of environmentally friendly vehicles at least ones that don’t pollute our air so much like electric to start. But no leave them struggling while jet setting and driving under in limos to beat the town as politicians do their bar rounds.
Starve a Child get a tax break its what British Colombians are into as another severely crippled homeless man is murdered in her streets as government is also into that as its adamant about keeping them on the streets despite the obvious tragedies.
Why not just sit back and put your feet around this BC has one heck of a tourisum industry? Used to but no more as crusie ships site cost consience consumer? Great Wines you bet? Natual resources up the ying yang? Canada has the greatest environment in the world. China no? Whats China got people who work for nothing and live in a communist country with a zillion widget factories and a zillion police to keep the madness going.
