Ahhhh, nothing like a little sleep deprivation to fire up a good rant !! I will return to regular postings on Monday, and I do have a few good commentaries building up that I simply must get out before I explode.
One thing to look at will be the “Newton Plan”, courtesy of Surrey mayor, Dianne Watts, and her council. It could be compared to cotton candy- it looks good, sounds good, but has little substance and form, with the exception of additional policing. Beautification efforts sound great, but do little to discourage the criminal activity that continues to spread into areas like Panorama Ridge. Moving the bus loop only moves the problems a couple blocks away, it certainly doesn’t address the core issues that have created this mess in the first place. Growing pains? Ha!! Stay tuned for more on this next week.
And how about those carbon tax cheques? Aww… ain’t Gordo’s government grand? Yes, I’m sure everyone is following those eco-suggestions in the insert about using the cash to buy weather stripping, or light bulbs. Sure…… gas is $1.48 and I’m going to buy some light bulbs with it….. It’s more likely to go towards paying for gas or a nice dinner out , or as the bank teller said, shopping because everything’s costing so much more! When your family is as large as mine, you definitely notice the changes in food product prices when you get to the checkout line. Time will tell come fall, just how the Liberals will come out on this issue in the end with voters, but I for one, am done with his His Royal Arrogance. That fake smile and well rehearsed media line only goes so far, and I’m surprised no one has looked into a certain Kelowna connection that has the potential to rival Basi-Virk for its scandal creating ability. Please God, work on this Basi-Virk thing a little more, hmmmm?
Free Speech is a misnomer to many these days, but local personality Rafe mair is breathing easier today, as the Supreme Court ruled in his favor and dismissed a libel lawsuit against him stemming from a 1999 editorial he delivered where he called a Christian advocate a bigot. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2008/06/27/bc-rafe-mair-wins-libal-lawsuit.html
Is there hope? I’ve been called a racist, and elitest, a fat hater, a white supremecist, you name it, for expressing my views on various subjects, although I haven’t been sued yet- knock on wood. I know it makes some people uncomfortable that my views are strong and I have no qualms about expressing them- their issue, not mine. Why is it we must strap our mouths shut, live in darkness and remain silenced by fear in speaking our minds? Saying you are against rampant immigration isn’t racist, nor is saying you support pro-choice being elitist or white oriented. Talking about delicate issues does require a certain finesse these days , but ignoring the realities and truths that surround them does little to fix any situation. Let us be able to speak our minds, whether we agree or not with the words spoken, for that right to speak freely cost many lives in our past, and continues to lead to deaths all over the world.
Kudo’s to the jury who sent a clear message to the Indian man who murdered his wife in cold blood, by stabbing her 39 times – let it send a message to others who may be enticed to claim ” provocation” again. My sympathies to her family. Now, back to having the laws changed so it never gets that far, a personal goal for this year. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2008/06/26/bc-jatinder-wariach-guilty.html
So much more, but time runs out for me, and my wee piggie is calling for lunch. A big thank you to all of you who’ve taken the time to send congratulations and good wishes, and some of you feel like a part of my family – I am sure you know who you are… Rowan is an exceptional baby who is already showing his lovely nature by spending nearly all his time sleeping and eating, with little to no crying, and slept for the entire night last night with only one feeding in between. How I lucked out with 4 fantastic kids, I don’t know, but I’m certainly feeling spoiled to be getting as much sleep as I am.
But, I still need my coffee …lol..
Take care and enjoy your weekend!

“Why is it we must strap our mouths shut, live in darkness and remain silenced by fear in speaking our minds?” I find this comment a bit ironic after my earlier follow-up comment was conveniently absent from your blog. However I was honestly thrilled to see that the birth of your son went well. My intent was never to be hurtful but more a desperate last ditch effort to encourage you to consider all options. I hope that things continue to go glowingly for you. KansasKP

For the record, I have always agreed that there are too many c-sections being performed un-needed. My beef with you was that you made recommendations without thought to the complete medical history of the patient. I have always said, even in a recent post ,that we need to be our own advocates, but in my case, it was very likely that a c-section was the only option to begin with, due to past medical conditions that make a vaginal birth unlikely. As it turns out, It worked in the end due to the sheer speed of it.
As sad as it may be, sometimes a c-section is the only route, and there are women out there who may take advice such as yours, at face value without considering the full consequence and safety of their babies.
Overall, your site is informative.
